Limit limiting yourself
Welcome to 2024 everyone. Glad to have you all here. 2023 went like a blink of an eye, at least for me. Hope 2024 will be a bit slower, but I also hope more growth and action will fit into it. In this first newsletter of 2024 I would like to focus on our potential and why we should go for it, so let’s get into it.
I think we all know at least million motivational quotes that talk about our limits, that we don’t have them, yada yada, you all know how it goes. I like all those positive messages, but I do think they are a bit overblown. That is the bad part in them I would say, because when people read them, they hype themselves up for a day or two and then just give up and go to their old ways. No bueno long term. Better approach would be to know your limits, and to know your limits you need to find them. Not so easy, I know. But you have to do what you have to do. Eventually after a lot of work you will find them, and that is beautiful moment. Not because you realize that you do in fact have them, but because you can now go to the next step, which is… well bending them of course.
So to summarize, we do have limits, forget that motivational trash talk, and we don’t have same limits. Some of us are better in some things than others and vice versa. A lot of factors come in play here, but it doesn’t matter. Firstly you need to find where you have some kind of edge, and focus there. Push limits there. No need to push your running limits if you don’t want to be professional athlete. Of course there are people that like to push limits in a lot of things, but you don’t have to do that, push those that benefit you the most, later you can play with other side quests. When you push through in some major things for you, you will be different person, the one that knows now how things work and how to approach other stuff better.
To push your limits further, you need to limit limiting yourself. Open your mind, you are more capable then you ever thought. If you were ever backed against the wall, you know it. What I’m trying to say but keep adding more text is this; push your limits step by step. You don’t and probably won’t do it in one day. Do it step by step. Every next time do more, one inch further. For example when you first start lifting weights you will feel weak, but every week, or every other week you add a bit more weight, and in a few years when you look back, you can’t believe how far you’ve come. If you tried to do all that progress in one day you would fail, but doing it bit by bit you actually did it.
You can use this approach in running, in business, in nutrition, more less wherever you want. Okay know I should probably put all of this in a sentence or two lol. Find some middle ground; Don’t try to do all the limit pushing in one day, then getting disappointed when you can’t do it and give up. But also don’t give up before you even started because you are afraid to work and be patient.
Find your limits; Push them bit by bit over some prolonged period of time; Be a lot further than you would be otherwise. That’s it. Oh, and of course below is one visual that sums up all of this word salad above (I see you visual learners, wink wink)
If you managed to arrive here, congrats. This was definitely my longest newsletter (so far). Thank you all for being here, and I hope I bring at least a tiny bit if value to you with my writing. If you are here first time and you like this kind of content, feel free to subscribe. If you have any ideas or want to talk about something, you can always reach out. Until next week.
Cheers
